Between Learning and Innate Talent

There were two sculptors in an ancient city, one named "Ryan" and the other "Salim."
They lived in a time when sculpture was considered a sacred art, and everyone was tested to become "worthy of creativity."
Ryan learned sculpting from books. He studied the rules, practiced shaping stones, but never felt that the chisel was an extension of himself.
He tried, and he was good, but he wasn’t truly sculpting—he was merely someone attempting to master it.
Salim, on the other hand, needed no teacher. Since childhood, he had seen shapes within the stones before carving them, as if they called out to him.
He never studied the rules, yet he effortlessly broke them to create something new.
Whenever someone asked him, "How did you do that?"
His answer was always the same: "It just happened."
One day, a grand competition was announced to sculpt a statue representing the spirit of the city.
Ryan worked for weeks, following the rules, measuring angles, ensuring everything was as he had learned.
Salim, however, stood before a massive stone with no plan—he simply touched the stone and began sculpting.
When they both unveiled their works, the difference was clear.
Ryan's statue was theoretically perfect, but it lacked soul.
Salim's statue, on the other hand, was full of life, as if it had not been made but born from the stone itself.
The people stood in awe, unable to comprehend how Salim had created such a piece without following any rules.
Some said he was lucky, while others believed he was deceiving them.
But an old wise man in the crowd smiled and said:
"The difference between one who learns something and one who is that thing is that the former creates by will, while the latter is created by what he already is."
At that moment, everyone understood… Not everything needs an explanation, for some things are planted in souls long before bodies are born.
